Basic Scaffold Inspection Course

Who is the Course For?

This course is suitable for personnel who require basic information with regard to scaffold inspection, alternatively it is also beneficial for those who wish to update their knowledge.
Personnel attending this course, should be actively involved in the inspection of scaffolding.

Aims

To emphasise to delegates the employer's statutory obligation to have competent persons to inspect and then complete reports on scaffolds in the workplace. To give delegates practice at inspecting scaffolds and completing inspection reports.
Objectives

At the end of the course delegates will be able to:-
estimated annual cost to society through accidents and ill health is £11 to £16 billion 1. understand the requirements of the legislation applicable to scaffolding and the employer's duties and responsibilities.
25 million working days are lost annually 2. understand the basic scaffolding components and the principles of safe systems of work during erection and dismantling.
25000 people are forced to give up work through injury 3. carrying out inspections of scaffold including fault finding.

The course is a mixture of both theory and practical exercises.

On-site investigation Review of current legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Including the Work at Height Regulations 2005
Taking of witness statements Scaffold appreciation
Gathering of evidence, measurements, photographs Cause of Scaffold Collapse
Collation of supporting documentation Hazards Associated with Scaffolding
Collation of supporting documentation Planning a Scaffold
Collation of supporting documentation Terms and definitions
Collation of supporting documentation Introduction to scaffolding materials
Collation of supporting documentation Basic Scaffold Requirements
Collation of supporting documentation Scaffold inspection
Collation of supporting documentation Documenting Inspections – Handover Certificates & The Scafftag System
